Sacred Spaces Launch - @ Cities and Memory - On-going
Price: Free

Sacred Spaces is another unique project by Cities and Memory that explores and reimagines the sounds of churches, temples, mosques, cathedrals, natural environments and other sacred spaces.

The project examines the critical role that sound has played in spiritual and religious life for many thousands of years, and the similarities between how sound is used across the world’s religions and sacred places.

My contribution to the project is the piece Sacred Signals which takes as its start point a recording from the Sadan Cave in Mynamar. The piece picks up on interference signals heard from mobile phones and other hand-held devices as people visit the caves captured in the source recording. You can listen to Sacred Signals and a number of other works as part of this project at the Cities and Memory project site here.

Held in conjunction with the Totally Huge New Music Festival, the ICMC runs from the 11th - 17th August. Two movements from my suite Trace Elements will be performed at the State Theatre Centre in the Heath Ledger Theatre on Monday 12th August at 8pm. Michael Kieran Harvey (piano) and Anthony Lyons (electronics). The full program is available on the ICMC site. It should be a great night of piano and live electronics with composers and works from all over the world. Check out the rest of the festival too if you're in Perth!
